Phillip C. Roessler, 23, of Perryville, died May 11, 2103 at his home in Perryville. He was born Dec. 27, 1989 at Sparta, Ill., the son of Cynthia Roessler of Perryville, who survives.

Phillip was a welder working for Robinson Construction.  He was of the Baptist Faith.

Survivors include his son Carson McClellan of Perryville, aunt Debbie Roessler of Cutler, Ill. and cousins Gerrod Roessler of Cutler, Ill., and Jimmy Thielemann of Collinsville, Ill.; and many friends.

He was born March 1, 1923 in Cape Girardeau, the son of Martin Van Doren and Alma (Clippard) Van Doren who both preceded him in death.

Roy J. Layton, 90, of Perryville,  died March 22, 2013 at the Missouri Veteran’s Home in Cape Girardeau.

He was born Sept. 9, 1922 at Belgique, the son of Charles and Edith (Mattingly) Layton, who both preceded him in death.

He married Ruth Hagan. She preceded him in death.

He is survived by a sister: Nina Wibbenmeyer of St. Louis and several nieces and nephews.

Roy was a World War II Army Veteran, and a member of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church.
